Empower Tehama website

Empower Tehama, formerly Alternatives to Violence, is a non-profit organization that provides assistance services at no cost to victims of domestic violence and their children in Tehama County, California. Empower Tehama opened its doors in 1994, and since then, has provided extensive services including: a 24-hour crisis hotline, legal advocacy, and emergency shelter. Domestic violence services have been expanded recently with the addition of on-site transitional housing, a rental assistance program and an increase in the number and types of legal assistance available for victims. In addition to domestic violence response, Empower Tehama offers extensive services including: one-on-one counseling services for those affected by abuse; ​a court-approved Domestic Violence Intervention Program designed to allow individuals struggling with abusive behaviors to discover tools for handling stress and address issues that influence their relationships; human trafficking & sexual assault response and assistance; and prevention and early education programs to help arm Tehama County residents with the knowledge on how to develop healthy relationships and how to recognize and address abuse.
